Last Friday night at 11:00PM my wife and I were at the live Branson Country USA radio show at Grand Country Music Hall. Guest stars were Jackson Cash from the Caravelle Theatre and Gordy Wensel from Hard Luck Diner. Both performers were outstanding and the radio program served as a showcase for their exceptional talent. Jackson Cash was ill and you could detect it as he talked but when he sang it was a different story. Anyone listening would swear they were hearing Johnny Cash at his finest. Gordy Wensel has a true country voice for classic and new country. He brought his wife, Debbie Kaye, out to do a duet with him for his second song. Each performer typically does three numbers.
Mike Patrick and Jim Dandy host the program. There is nothing like being in the audience when the program airs. The hosts keep the audience in stitches during the commercial breaks making for a straight 1-hour of fun and great entertainment. Branson is known for businesses supporting each other but none does it more or better than the Grand Country Music Hall, especially when they showcase talented artists from all over town via their live radio broadcast. A short interview with the artists after the performance gives them an opportunity to announce their schedules and what is going on in their lives and careers.
